Imagine going to a dentist and the dentist does not know your language, you are not familiar with the place, and you were already anxious on your car trip here. Well, that is the case for almost every furry friend that visits us. Now picture this: the dentist comforts you, gives you your favorite food, and makes you relax. This is how we treat the pets that walk through our door every single day. For us, they are like family to us. Dogs are very good energy readers, they sense the energy around them and act accordingly. You have to maintain a very calm aura around them and understand their situation as well. Our technicians are very well trained and know how to handle furry friends during the grooming session. There is zero point in yelling at these innocent creatures as they will not understand a thing. The more patient one is with them the more relaxed they are. There are many factors that go into making sure that the dog is calm and is listening to whatever you are saying. We have mastered this art.
Act like it is no big deal
A trip to the grooming salon is definitely not a very loved thing between the dogs. They do not find the idea very amusing and usually get anxious when they have to go to the salon. For us groomers, it becomes important that we treat the whole day as it is no big deal. It is normal for them to be anxious and we have to calm them down before starting any session.
Ignoring is the best solution
Little pups tend to be very excited while visiting a new place and become super active. The solution to calm them down is simply to ignore them. If you do so, they will automatically get their energy levels down and make the grooming session a cakewalk. Baby talk is not the best solution when it comes to handling dogs, they may perceive the noise as a high-pitched sound in an unfamiliar environment and not get accustomed to it.
We do not rush
No matter what happens, we like to give our furry friends their own sweet time to adjust to the environment and get used to the unfamiliar faces. The best way to have the best trim is by taking and working at one's own pace. It is very difficult if you rush the pet and expect them to be as calm as before. When the dog feels understood it calms down. This is what has to be done, and we do it on a regular basis. We trust the dogs more than anything. If we feel that it wants to get off the table, we will let the collar open and let it explore the place fully. This will ensure more familiarising of the surroundings and more calmness.
